Studio Policy

Thank you for choosing to learn singing/piano with me! In order to ensure we've got the best working relationship I've set out the studio policy below. Any questions please do direct to hello@candilouise.co.uk and I'd be happy to help.

Fees

Private lesson fees are payable either prior or during the lesson. I accept payment by stripe, bank transfer or cash. If you are paying by bank transfer please ensure this is in my account 24 hours prior to the lesson starting.

I reserve the right to refuse lessons which have not been paid for or for persistent late payment.

If you are coming to me through Tutorful payment will be taken automatically from your account through the platform.

Current rates are £35 per hour, £30 for 45 minutes or £20 per half hour lesson. Any increase in fees will be notified in writing 2 weeks prior to the increase taking place.

Lesson cancellation / missed lessons

Lesson fees will still be charged and not be refunded for illness, missed, or forgotten lessons, last minute holiday or lessons cancelled by student/parent within a 48 hour window prior to the lesson.

If you did want to reschedule your lesson prior to 48 hours I will do my best to work with you to reschedule this in, but please note this is not guaranteed to be the same week. I will however communicate clearly with you the options in hand.

If I need to reschedule a lesson with you I will communicate this with you at the earliest possible moment and offer alternative slots available.

For gift certificates these sessions are non-refundable and cannot be returned.

Student responsibilities

Students are expected to attend regularly and punctually at the time arranged. If you are late for a lesson, your lesson will not be extended into someone else’s lesson.

Students are expected to routine practice into their weekly schedule to ensure progression and bring any music/lyric sheets they are working on with them.

Parent responsibilities (if relevant)

To ensure practising is done regularly, and to positively encourage practising as advised by teacher; to respect my teaching methods and decisions regarding exam entry (if relevant).

Parents are also responsible for purchasing any musical materials requested by the tutor.

Tutor responsibilities

As a tutor I will be prepared for each lesson and have a solid lesson plan prior. Following your lesson I will communicate with you via email the takeaways from the lesson and any links discussed.

I will provide a positive environment, be encouraging and tailor the lessons appropriately to you.

Termination

If you do no longer wish to take lessons 2 weeks notice is required.

Data Protection

Any data I do take is not stored on my personal computer and instead within associated third party apps: Gmail, My Music Staff, MGR Music, & Tutorful. Currently this is limited to name, email address and, in some instances, telephone number.

During the lesson we may take recordings, either of the whole lessons or parts of a song. These will be sent to you and stored on my computer for a maximum of one year, after which time they will be deleted.

Any changes to this will be communicated to you via email.
